Medical Service Trips & International Rotations
In The College of Health Sciences at Arcadia, course work goes beyond the classroom. From international fieldwork, to presenting research with faculty, to clinical rotations, learning activities venture across the nation and the world. You can select to support student travel experiences in the following programs: Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, and/or Public Health.
Physician Assistant (PA) Program International Clinical Rotations & Medical Service Trip
Arcadia’s PA program offers a variety of optional experiences that broaden the perspective of a traditional medical education, including service opportunities and international clinical experiences. The cost of travel can be prohibitive for many students. Gifts will help offset those travel costs. To date, Arcadia students have had clinical rotations in over twenty countries around the world, including South Africa, Bolivia, England, Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru, and Italy. The Arcadia PA Program provides a medical service trip to Lima, Peru through MedLife, a non-profit organization that partners with low-income communities in Latin America and Africa to improve their access to medicine, education and community development projects.
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) International Service Learning Experiences
Arcadia’s DPT students are offered the opportunity to participate in seven different international clinical experiences per year to engage in global health-oriented work with critical thoughtfulness. An average of 35 entry-level doctoral students across residential and hybrid pathways participate, in addition to over 10 faculty and/or clinician mentors. Participants learn important skills while providing crucial healthcare services through clinical partnerships in Bolivia, Jamaica, Guatemala, and Belize. The cost of travel can be prohibitive for students. Gifts will help offset those travel costs.
Public Health Internships, Research, and Conference Experiences
Arcadia’s Department of Public Health degree programs prepare students to enhance the health status and quality of life of the public, including individuals and groups who are at the greatest risk for chronic and debilitating health problems and a lower quality of life. Public Health students participate in internships and are actively involved in research and scholarship through MPH Capstone and other department opportunities. Many students present, or want to present, their work at conferences, but funds for student travel costs are very limited. The cost of travel for international internship and scholarly events to share out work can be prohibitive for students. Gifts will help offset those travel costs.
